How to use the Curator

Step onePhotograph the wall
Point the camera at the wall where the piece will hang, and include the furniture and the light you actually live with. The Curator reads the room’s palette, brightness and colour temperature straight from that photograph.
You can add up to three photographs. Each one is read on its own, for colour and for content, so a second angle or a different time of day gives a truer picture of the room.
Step twoMeasure the wall from the photograph
Shoot the wall with a door in frame — the door is the ruler. Tap Measure Wall from Photo and set the reference size; a standard interior door, 32 × 80 in, is the default. Measure that door once with a tape and it holds good for every photograph of the room.
- Step 1 of 3. Tap the four corners of the door opening, going around it: top-left, top-right, bottom-right, bottom-left. Trace the opening, not the swung door, and put the bottom corners where the casing meets the floor — not out on the floor.
- Step 2 of 3. Tap the left edge of the wall, then the right. The wall ends at the corner where it turns, not at a window reveal or a return wall beyond it.
- Step 3 of 3. Tap where the wall meets the ceiling, then where it meets the floor.
The app corrects for the angle you shot from and returns the wall’s width and height, which drop into the fields for you.
Step threeThree numbers
Give the Curator the width of the wall, how far away people usually sit or stand, and the width of any sofa or console sitting below. Sizing follows from those three. On a bare wall the piece is scaled to hold the centre of the wall; above furniture it is scaled to the furniture rather than to the wall.
Each candidate size is also checked for print resolution at that size, so nothing is recommended that would not hold up close.
Step fourWhere it hangs, and the spec sheet
The Curator gives a hanging height for the room you chose — in a waiting room, centred 48–52 in off the floor; where furniture sits below, centred on the furniture, 6–8 in above it. Measure to the centre of the image, never to the hook.
The Report tab draws the piece at true size against your measured wall with eye level marked, and builds a client-ready spec sheet — room analysis, recommended sizes, formats and installation notes — that you can save or share.
If you are working with us on a project, your intake answers feed back into the Curator, weighting the results toward what you told us you wanted and flagging anything that pulls away from it.
